Muriel T. Russell, 94, of Keansburg, passed away on Thursday January 26th, at Bayside Manor Assisted Living, Keansburg. Mrs. Russell was born to Cornelius Desmond and Lillian Casey Desmond on November 8th, 1922 in N.Y. City, Manhattan; she lived there before moving to Keansburg in April of 1970. Muriel married her husband Edward T. Russell April 15, 1942. She worked for Beachview Nursing Home, Keansburg as a housekeeper, before retiring in 1982; she also was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Muriel was pre-deceased by her parents Cornelius F. Desmond in 1948 and Lillian Casey Desmond in 1939; her husband Edward T. Russell in 1982; her children Patricia M. Keenan in 1971, William T. Russell in 2011, Cornelius E. Russell in 2012, Joanne Cerreta in 2015 and Margaret A. Cogan in 2016; her great grandson Michael J. Pezzano in 1992; four brothers Cornelius F. Desmond in 1988, Joseph W. Desmond in 2001, Peter A Desmond in 1994 and John T. Desmond in 1919; three sisters Margaret Anderson in 1965, Loretta D. Sommers in 1999 and Emma V. Stipeck in 2005; her nephews Joseph P. Desmond in 1994 and Walter C. Anderson in 2012; her grandnephew Joseph P. Desmond Jr. in 2009 and her son in-law Joseph L. Cerreta in 2004, her daughter in-law Suzanne Fiumara Russell in 2006 and son William’s companion Deborah Newton in 2014; and her dear sister in-law Ida Desmond in 2009. Surviving are her devoted niece and her husband Arleen and Thomas Stack of West Keansburg; her grandchildren Michael W. Donaldson and his wife Patricia of Keansburg, Patricia Faccas and her husband George of Keansburg, Joseph Keenan and his wife Angela of FL, Scott Keenan and his wife Joanne,Edward William Keenan, William Fiumara and his wife Nikki and John Fiumara; Katherine Russell and Michelle Russell, Kelly Ann Pezzano and her husband Joseph, Joseph Cerreta, Matthew Cerreta, Christopher Cerreta and his girlfriend Lauryn Puthe, Thomas P. Cogan and his wife Katherine; Her beloved Great grandchildren Nickcole Cheatum and her husband Durand, Patrick Faccas, Anthony Faccas and Felicia Faccas, Daniel P. Donaldson, Joseph Pezzano, Nicholas Pezzano, Michael Pezzano and Angela Russell, Skylor Fiumara, Alex Fiumara, David Keenan, Brandon Keenan, Erin Keenan, Zachary Keenan, Patrick Keenan, Matthew Cerreta, William C. Cerretta, Jaela Russell, Caroline Cogan, Thomas Cogan, and James Cogan; Her four great -great grandchildren, Connor and Naia Keenan and Kylie Marie and Bryce Lamont Cheatum; also three generations of nephews and nieces. Muriel’s family would like to thank the Cappadona family and all the staff at the Bayside Manor for the wonderful care she was given over the almost 7 years she was a resident, she was treated each day with compassion, respect and dignity and most of all love which she was shown every day, for this her family will always be thankful. Family will be accepting friends on Wednesday 3-7pm at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. On Thursday there will be a 10:15am Mass at St. Ann’s Church, Keansburg.
