Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Junior Alvin Byers, age 72, of Blairsville, who passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.Junior was born in Mineral Bluff, Georgia, on January 31, 1944, a son of the late Carl Fulton Byers and the late Mattie Bell Dillard Byers. He lived in the north Georgia area for all of his life, and was a member of Toccoa Baptist Church in Lakewood, Georgia. Junior loved playing the guitar, and always had a good sense of humor. He enjoyed riding horses on the farm, and going fishing, and going to church, especially if there was a special singing. Besides his parents, he had been preceded in death by two brothers, Loyd Byers and Frank Byers.Junior will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially by his loving family membersFuneral services for Junior have been scheduled for Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, with Rev. Raymond Byers officiating. Burial will be in Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery in Lakewood, Georgia. The family will meet with friends on Wednesday evening, May 25, 2016, between the hours of 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville.
