Edith Gayle Hunt Barnhart
Hunt God opened his arms to a new angel Saturday, January 11, 2014. Edith Gayle Hunt Barnhart escaped the bindings of this earthly world and rose peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior as the sun was setting. All who knew and loved her are better for having her path cross theirs. Edith graduated from Franklin County High School in Rocky Mount, Va. in 1961, Ferrum College in 1963 and Radford College in 1965. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Evelyn Hunt, of Burnt Chimney, her in-laws, Merton and Hazel Barnhart, of North 220 Rocky Mount, her dear sister, Bonnie Ciccone, of Norfolk, brothers-in-law, Peter C. Snyder, of Blacksburg, Charles Heath, of Roanoke, and Wesley Naff, of Boones Mill, and nephew, Jeff Taylor of Lynchburg.

To honor the Christian life of this remarkable woman, the family will receive friends Tuesday evening January 14, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kyger Funeral Home, 3173 Spotswood Trail, Harrisonburg, VA 22801. There will be a celebration of her life Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 205 South Main Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801, with a reception immediately following in the church social hall. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. at Franklin Memorial Park, 21440 Virgil H Goode Hwy, Rocky Mt., VA 24151, with coffee to follow at Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren, 2363 Brick Church Rd., Rocky Mount, VA 24151. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church Building Fund.
