His life was undeviating in its industry and integrity. At the time of his death he had attained nearly a century of age, reaching to his ninety-third year, and was the senior resident of this town. His wife survives him.
His children were: 1. Mary Eliza, who married Elijah Blashfield; 2. Aaron H., who married Libby S. Lewis, in Morrison, Illinois, and there died, greatly beloved, on March 18, 1887. He had served as a volunteer in the Civil War; 3. Lambert, who was also a volunteer in the U. S. service in the same war, and died in the service at Fort Sully, Dakota Territory, on October 14, 1863; 4. William R., who married first Eliza, a daughter of Peter B. Lant, of Argyle, and she dying he married, second Sarah, a daughter of George Wadsworth; 5. Martha Lucy, who married Horton Cottrell, of Easton, a son of John and Betsey (Dwelle) Cottrell. Mr. Martin was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery at Salem. (May 18, 1888)"
