J. S.Burns, merchant and postmaster at Colony, died Saturday of pneumonia, and was buried at Flatonia Sunday by the Woodmen, of which order he was a zealous member.
He leaves a widow and five boys, the eldest but 15 years old. He was born 43 years ago in Mississippi and came to this section in 1882 with a brother, W. R. Burns, who lives at Colony. The News had not pleasure of his acquaintance, but his reputation was that of an exemplary citizen and a kind and indulgent father and husband. His death is an awful blow to his five little boys, who are barely old enough to realize their loss, and in this sad hour of her sorrow the News begs to tender the bereaved widow its sincere sympathy.
