Ray Cashwell Britt, Jr., 65, of Archdale passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Britt was born on June 26, 1948 in Fayetteville, NC a son of Maybelle Hancock of Southern, Pines, NC, and the late Ray Cashwell Britt. He was a former employee of Piedmont Airlines, US Air and US Airways in Greensboro NC for over 26 years.
He was an avid golfer and sports fan.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Britt is survived by his companion of 16 years, Mary Starnes of Greensboro, NC; three children, Janice Smith and husband, Robbie of Reidsville, NC, Stephen Britt and wife, Mitzi (Shelton) of Walnut Cove NC, and Stacy Britt of Reidsville NC; six grandchildren, Jacob Neal, Hunter Britt, Trevor Britt, Josh Neal, Marshall Britt, and Ethan Smith; a sister Betty Jo (Britt) Lane and husband, JC of Yorktown, VA; and two nieces, Shelly (Carrington) Sheldon and husband Billy, and Whitney Carrington all of Southern Pines, NC. Mr. Britt was preceded in death by a sister Patrica (Patty) Carrington.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 206 Trindale Road, Archdale. A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at Powell Funeral Home, 160 E New Hampshire Ave, Southern Pines, NC with Rev. Dr. Deryl Holliday officiating. A visitation will be held an hour prior Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Southern Pines, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
