Edward Clyde Zellers, 83 of Omaha, NE and formerly of Sioux City passed on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 in Omaha after a short illness. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Edward Clyde Zellers was born in Sioux City, Iowa on July 30, 1930 to parents Clyde Earl Zellers and Grace Glanville Zellers. He was reborn as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism on April 11, 1954. On April 11, 1954, he was confirmed in the Christian faith and was fed the life-giving body and blood of Jesus. He was united in holy marriage to Mary Nadine Harder on June 27, 1953 at Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, NE and blessed with 60 years of married life together. God also blessed them with the gift of three children: Cheryl Linn Zellers, Craig Edward Zellers, and Kevin Clyde Zellers. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Zellers of Omaha NE, brother, Ronald Earl & Shirley Zellers of Arnolds Park, IA, Cheryl Zellers and Kerry Eddy of Shawnee, KS, Craig and Robin Zellers of Omaha, NE, Rev. Kevin and Kathy Zellers of North Branch, MN, 5 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Edward was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Grace Zellers, his grandparents and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Edward attended Central High School in Sioux City, IA, and entered the United States Air Force in 1949. He worked for his father at Clyde's Auto Glass and Paint, began route sales with Fairmont Foods, Palmer Candy, Wells Blue Bunny, and Kitty Clover. He had an active life in sports: fast pitch softball, coaching little league and youth baseball for his sons and slow pitch softball for his daughter, bowling, fishing, and camping. He was known for his competitive spirit in coaching and encouraging athletics with his entire family.
