One of God's most noble sons returned home on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the age of 81 at his home in Draper Utah, due to complications of a stroke. Frank Edward Berrett was greeted by his loving wife Irene, his son Gary, his parents and countless relatives and friends as he peacefully slipped through the veil. Frank was born August 25, 1931 in SLC, Utah, to Josephine Jensen Berrett and Floyd Edward Berrett. Frank and his two sisters, Bonnie and Judith, grew up in the Seattle, Washington area. Frank dearly loved his sisters and adored his parents. He was a talented athlete in many sports including tennis, which became a wonderful passion throughout his life. Frank graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949 with high honors. In 1951 Frank left BYU to serve a full time mission in Uruguay where he served as a Branch President, District President and counselor to the mission president. After his mission, Frank returned to B.Y.U. and met Irene Beth Fullmer. Their eternal family was created on December 17, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. Irene was Frank's biggest cheerleader, wisest confident, dearest companion and most valued friend. Together they raised five children and were blessed with twenty grandchildren and five great grand children. They enjoyed traveling, water skiing trips, snow skiing Saturdays, cruises, safaris, and houseboat adventures on Lake Powell. In June of 1955, Frank graduated at the top of his class in Business Management and worked for Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp., Educators Corporation and Bestwood Industries where he was the President of the Canadian division and then C.E.O. of the entire Corporation. Integrity, action plans, innovation and employee loyalty were hallmarks of Frank's business success. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Frank often said that his favorite calling was serving as the Ward Scout Master and yet he was predominantly called to positions of leadership and administration. Frank served as a Bishop twice (Puyallup, Washington and North Shores, Vancouver, B.C.) and Stake President twice (Vancouver, B.C. and Centralia, Washington). Retiring early in life, Frank and Irene presided over the Bogota Colombia Mission and later the Barranquilla Mission (1986-89). He and Irene served along side hundreds of valiant missionaries that they loved like their own children. Together, they overcame the challenges of drug cartels, poverty, and governmental corruption to gather the House of Israel. After their mission, Frank and Irene settled in SLC, Utah and together they served at the Utah State Prison, in the Inner City mission teaching English, and worked with The United Way. Frank and Irene's last full time mission was as President of the Dominican Republic Mission Training Center. They were able to prepare and train Elders and Sisters going to several different missions and three languages (Spanish, French and Creole). They were thrilled to watch these new, strong and excited missionaries leave for their fields of labor. Boundless love, fierce courage, contagious excitement, powerful faith and unwavering determination describe Frank's service to the Lord he loved. Frank and Irene's legacy of missionary service has had a dramatic impact on their posterity. They have had children and grandchildren serve missions all over the world: Peru, Columbia, Denver, Orlando, Brazil, Argentina, California, and one grandson is currently serving in Spain. Not long after their return from The Dominican Republic, Irene was tragically injured in a terrible accident and later passed away as a result of her injuries. For several years, their family vigilantly watched over them and lovingly cared for them in every way. Surrounded by two noble and loving families, Frank married Christine Dickson, on June 25, 2011. Christine was a special gift to Frank. Her sweet, loving and caring companionship blessed his life. Christine's beautiful family was especially kind and showed Frank incredible love and support. Frank loved them all very much. His life's motto was "Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon must inevitably come to pass." Survived by his wife and children: Christine Berrett, Scott Edward (Denise) residing in Houston Texas, Cynthia Jo (H. Scott Savage) residing in Alpine Utah, Karlan Kimberly (Mark Lynn Richards) residing in Baltimore Maryland as Mission President, Britt Richard (Lori) residing in Dallas Texas, and Lail Louise (Scott Covington) residing in Austin, Texas. Sisters: Bonnie Dalton and Judith Berrett Predeceased by: Gary William Berrett (son), Irene Beth Berrett (wife), Justin Edward Berrett (grandson), Gene Dalton (brother-in-law) A viewing will be held Friday October 26, 2012 from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Saturday morning before the funeral. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday October 27th at 11:00 a.m. Both the viewings and celebration will be held at the Hidden Valley Sandy Stake Center located at 1450 East Raddon Drive, Sandy Utah.
