Married George Cartwright.
According to her obit, they came to America in 1851, with two children (George and Diana).
They settled on what was called the Cartwright place east of Upper Alton. The site had recently been sold to the State of Illinois, which planned to build a new insane hospital on the site.
Survived by five children: Miss Hannah Cartwright, Mrs. George Burton, William H. Cartwright, Henry M. Cartwright, and John R. Cartwright.
Charity Cartwright was a member of Upper Alton Methodist Church.
