KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Doris Hinds (Ricketson) went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 1, 2009 after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be at 10 am, Wednesday, April 8 at Crossroads Christian Church, 5855 Renner Road, Shawnee, KS. Donations may be made to KC Hospice or Carondelet Manor.

Doris was born and raised in Dartmouth, Ma. She retired from Henry Wurst after 34 years of dedicated service. She was secretary for the Ladies Auxiliary for the USS Shangri-La from 1990-1994. She helped organize the Waldo Home Association in 1992. Doris was an only child. She loved her uncle Howard Ricketson and her cousins very much. She enjoyed writing short stories and poetry.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Hinds, parents Herbert Levi Ricketson and Anna Mosher Ricketson. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Michael Brogan and grandson Shawn Brogan, Canton, Ohio, son and daughter-in-law Rick and Ronnie Hinds, Edwardsville, KS and grandchildren Katie Hinds, Bobby Lentz and Brittany Lentz. A very special thanks to the nurses and nurse aides at Carondelet Manor of Kansas City, K.C. Hospice and Crossroads Church.
