Martha Jean Seago, age 88, passed away on January 12, 2014 at her home from a pulmonary infection.

Jean was born on December 25, 1925 to John Goebel Kegley and Jessie Marie Kegley. Jean served as an Associate Professor of Nursing at Del Mar College for over 30 years until her retirement in 1991.

She was a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine - Dallas and The University of Texas - Austin.

Jean was a devout Christian who lived her faith. She was always ready to help those less fortunate and in need, and did so often. She tirelessly supported many charitable and Christian organizations with her time, effort, and money. She traveled extensively on missionary trips spreading the word of the lord.

Jean was a devoted mother to her three boys, grandmother to her granddaughters, and spiritual mother to countless others. She was sharp, witty, and above all, selfless. She will be remembered by her genuine smile, passion, and devotion.

Jean is survived by her former husband Enno, her son James, and two granddaughters, Susan and Laura Seago. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Vona Lee Kegley and four nephews John, Lester, Charles, and Michael Kegley. She was preceded in death by sons Daniel and Jonathan and brother Gordon.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday January 15, 2014, 10:00 a.m., Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean Drive. She will be buried near her mother and father
