CLEARFIELD-Mrs. Mary H. Linford Layton. 83, of Clearfield, widow of Samuel G. Layton, died yesterday.
Mrs. Layton was born Aug. 3, 1875, in Kaysville, a daughter of James Henry and Zillah Crockett Linford. She attended Layton schools and Brigham Young College in Logan. She had lived in Clearfield since 1908 except for three years in Layton.
A member of the Clearfield LDS Fourth Ward, she had been Relief Society secretary and block teacher. She had served in the Primary, Sunday School, YWMIA and religion class in the Kaysville Ward. For many years she was agent for the Bamberger Railroad Co. in Layton.
On June 15, 1898 she was married to Mr. Layton in the Salt Lake Temple. He died April 25, 1952, in Clearfield.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Zilah Reddish, Logan.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the North Davis Stake House in Clearfield by Bishop Charles Jenkins Jr. of the Clearfield Fourth Ward. Friends may call at the Clearfield Mortuary tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday until 1:30 p.m. Burial in Kaysville-Layton Memorial Park, dircted by Lindquist and Sons Mortuary.
