Margaret - approx 1935
Angela - approx 1938
After the 2nd world war, the Auerbachs were forced to evacuate their home in Hungary, and were resettled in Germany. Like millions of other Germans that were forced out of their homes, they were not allowed to return home. They made the decision to emigrate to the United States. On March 22, 1952, the Auerbachs arrived in New York City to begin their lives anew in the United States.
Sometime after coming to the US, Frank and Margarete were divorced, and Frank became estranged from his family. He eventually moved to Detroit, Michigan.
On October 28, 1961 in Detroit, Frank married Lydia Harbart. Lydia Harbart was also a German refugee/emigree (from Poland) who had settled in the United States. She was also divorced, having 2 children from her first marriage.
Frank died on August 21, 1985 in Detroit, and is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit. Lydia lived another 13 years - she died in 1998, but is buried in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Mount Clemens, Michigan, alongside her first husband Ludwig Harbart.
