Mrs. Ada Elizabeth Gilbert, 76, widow of James Gilbert, died Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the home of her son, Sidney E. Gilbert, 308 Lampert street.Mrs. Gilbert had been in failing health for a number of years and for the last year had been unstable to engage in any activities outside her home. She was born March 20, 1862, and for the last 13 years had resided in Alton.Besides the son with whom she made her home, another son, Wesley, of Alton, and three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Kiely, Alton; Mrs. Ruby Beard, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Grace Dettmer, Los Angeles, Calif., survive. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Mary Gilbert of Hinton, Okla., and a brother, Edward Hicks, Williamsville; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Streeper funeral home by the Rev. Walter Wisman, St. Louis. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m., Friday.
