She Passes Away in Her Apartments at the Palace
Mrs. Martha Hitchcock, widow of the late Dr. C. T. Hitchcock, and mother of Mrs. Lillie Coit, died in her apartments at the Palace Hotel yesterday afternoon at the age of 76 years.
Mrs. Hitchcock was a leader of the San Francisco social world in the early days of the city, and up to the time of her last illness she entertained her many friends of that set, her apartments being a social Mecca.
Her daughter, Lillie married Howard Coit, the caller of the San Francisco Stock and Exchange Board, who died several years ago. Since her husband's death Mrs. Coit has spent much time in traveling abroad.
