His parents were from Sault Ste Marie, Michigan and his father had a distinguished career as a newspaper publisher.

Son of Fresno Herald publisher and later a partner in The Fresno Republican, George Osborn Sr, Grandson of Michigan Governor (1911-1913) and Vice Presidential candidate (1928) Chase Osborn.

Survived by parents George Sr and Emma Dunstan Osborn and sisters Helen and Ann.
