Tom had been a proud member of California Association of Legal Document Assistants (CALDA) for many years and working as a LDA for 10 years, both in Sun Valley and in Granada Hills DBA "The Poor Man's Friend".

He loved helping people and had found his niche in life as a LDA. After many years in a variety of professions, with true entrepreneurial spirit, he found this was the work he was best suited to. He threw himself wholeheartedly into being an LDA and found it both challenging and satisfying.

Tom loved people. He was funny and always put people at their ease. He had made many friends in CALDA and will be very much missed by all - colleagues and clients alike.

Tom was a QM3 U.S. Navy submarine service veteran, serving from 1949 to 1956. He was also an active member of the VFW, American Legion, Elks Lodge, and The Moose. He started business as "The Poor Man's Friend" originally as a real estate broker in CA in 1979, selling homes in South Los Angeles. He enjoyed assisting those less fortunate achieve their slice of the American Dream. Previously he worked in the insurance industry in Manhattan, and as a private investigator both in the U.S. and Great Britain. It was in England Tom met his beloved wife, Joan, his English rose, who predeceased him in December 2009, after a grueling bout with cancer. After her death, Tom contracted pneumonia then succumbed to a pulmonary embolism just 6 weeks after Joan's passing. Tom and Joan had worked together in "The Poor Man's Friend" business, side by side, for the last 3 years, since her retirement from the City of Glendale in 2006.

Tom and Joan are survived by their three daughters, Mary, Shelagh, and Christine, their sons-in-law, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his sisters, Lucy (Robert) Linden of Indian Wells, CA and Mary (Alan) Muenzel of Placentia, CA.
