PHYLLIS R. PORTER, of Tucson, passed away on April 11, 2008, at the age of 89, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Phyllis was born and raised in Connecticut, but lived most of her life in New Jersey. After retiring, she and her husband Richard moved to Farmington, Maine. In 1984, they settled in Green Valley.

Phyllis earned her RN degree at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn. and served in the medical profession in various capacities. In addition, she enjoyed a long working career with Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Morris County, N.J.

She was also a long-standing member of the Women's Club of Green Valley and much enjoyed swim aerobics as well as many handicrafts, especially ceramics.

Phyllis was preceded in death by Richard, her devoted and loving husband of 57 years.

Survivors include two sons, Alan of Ocean, N.J. and Philip of Farmington, Maine; three grandchildren Geoffrey, Jennifer and Jill; one great-grandchild Keeghan; and her sister-in-law Betty Guyer of Green Valley.

She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her small family and also her constant caregiver Vicki.
