Shipwrecks and Ships of Gloucester, Massachusetts Bay Colony

Gloucester was founded in 1623 as a Massachusetts Bay Colony by the Dorchester Company from Dorchester England. The following list of ships plus crew and passenger names is taken from shipwrecks from Gloucester Massachusetts 1830 to 1873.

Schooner FOREST, mackereling, was lost on Cape Cod, Oct.4th with eight men: Stephen Rich, Master; Robert S. Sawyer, Asa L. Collins, Benjamin Robinson, Joseph Gerring, Francis Wlliams, John Quincy Adams, Abraham Obr. Owned by the master and Messrs. Giles & Wonson. Valued at $2,500. and uninsured.

Boat JACK DOWNING, lost at Annisquam. Crew Saved. Owned by Daniel Robinson. Valued at $225; insured for $150.
