Harold LeRoy Payne, 43, rural Elgin, died Friday morning of injuries received in a farm tractor accident.
He was born on June 2, 1928, in Cleveland, Kan., to Harry J. and Bess (Ehmke) Payne. At the age of two he moved with his parents to Syracuse, Kan., and was graduated from Coolidge, Kan., High School. He married Barbara Carrithers at Syracuse on May 24, 1947, and he couple came to the Elgin area in 1960.
Mr. Payne leaves his parents: his widow; one son, Keith; three daughters, Mrs. Steve (Joyce) Durick, and Marie Ann and Celda Mae; one grandson, and three sisters, Mrs. Frank Mogan; Mrs. Eugene Walker, and Mrs. George Fox.
Burial Tuesday, in the Bethesda Lutheran Church cemetery.
He was a member and deacon in the Bethesda Lutheran Church and a member of the Bear Creek School Board.
