Joseph Casella was born to Anthony Casella. His mother died when his little sister was an infant. One of five son's Joseph worked for a diary in Willows and had a small farm on 2nd street. He also raised some hay. He was also a mechanic.
When he retired to Fall River Mills, Calif. he raised wheat and cattle and a few hogs. He loved hunting and fishing but never killed an animal unless he needed food for the freezer.
He was a quiet man but when he had something to say he was direct and used only a few words to get his point across. He had a gentle nature and helped raise his wife's sister's children in the absence of their father.
His sister Ida Casella married Thelma's brother John Jensen.
He died of lung cancer.
