Vy Easley Word Ammons, 91, of Shreveport, LA, passed away Friday, December 9, 2011. She was a native of Springhill, La and a resident of Shreveport of many years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jake Word, second husband, Bob Ammons, mother, Lucretia Easly and daughter Jo Ann Stampley.

She is survived by her: son, Mike Word and wife, Nancy, daughter, Jan Word and fiancé, Bob Ayers; grandchildren, Tony Stampley and wife Melissa, Terri Jo Stampley and partner, J.P. Holland, Tim Stampley, Blake Nations and wife, Tracy, Allison Maxwell and husband, Joe Maxwell; Eight great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Mrs. Ammons was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church. She was a member and director of the Shreveport Duplicate Bridge Association, and was honored to be a member of the National Bridge Goodwill Committee.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Osborn Funeral Home. Service will follow at 1:30 pm at Osborn with Rev. John Harp officiating. Interment will be at Western Cemetery, in Shongaloo, La.

Vy was known for her vivacious personality, was a friend to all, and never met a stranger.
