Odette Nycette McCourry passed away October 28, 2012 at home in the loving arms of her family, after a short illness. Myckie was born in Ordonnac, France on March 7, 1926 to Angele Solange Maffre and Henry Mau.
She was a loving, devoted and cherished wife and mother. Nyckie had a great "Joie de vivre." She was an adventurous traveler from early in life when she lived in Africa. She met Jesse McCourry, the love of her life, on a blind date during WWII in Vincennes, Frances. They were married six month later in that same town and lived 42 years of happiness stationed in the U.S. and Germany.
Nyckie lived in El Paso for the past 43 years. She loved gardening and cooking and animals. She is predeceased by her husband, Retired Sgt. Maj. Jesse A. McCourry on March 5, 1991. She is survived by her son, Kenneth McCourry of El Paso; daughter, Laura (tom) Paul of Camillus, N.Y.; brothers, Jean Pierre and Jean Claude Mau, both of France; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She will live forever in the hearts of family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 7 pm, Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Services will begin at 11:30 am, Friday, November 2, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will be held at 1 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
