OBITUARY: Annie C. Ingalls of Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, NB passed away July 8, 2010 at Lincourt Manor. Annie was born at French Lake, NB on December 16, 1914, a daughter of the late Franklin and Mabel (Stennick) Carr. Following graduation from St. Stephen High School she worked at the cotton mill in Milltown, NB for several years. She then enrolled in the nursing program at Montreal General Hospital, graduating as a registered nurse in 1945 and worked for two years at Children's Hospital in Montreal. In 1947, she answered an ad for the Red Cross Outpost on Grand Manan, a facility later to become Grand Manan Hospital. In 1949 she married Warren W. Ingalls and resided and nursed on Grand Manan until moving to Fredericton, NB in 1972. In Fredericton she did part-time nursing, enrolled at St. Thomas University and was involved with senior's bowling and Elderhostel. In 2003 she and her husband Warren moved to Harvey Station, NB.
Annie is survived by two daughters, Susan Williams (Gary), Harvey Station, NB and Jennifer Underhill (Tom), St. Stephen, NB; a sister, Myrtle Ames, Lawrence Station, NB; grandchildren, Lesley Bennett (Kevin), Harvey Station, NB, Jared Williams (Erika), McAdam, NB and Katherine Underhill, St. Stephen, NB; great grandchildren, Alexander and Taylor Bennett and Bree and Claire Williams; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie (Don) Davidson and Audrey Ingalls, both of Grand Manan, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Annie was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth Cecelia Ingalls and two brothers, Maurice and Kenneth Carr.
Visiting hours will be held at Swan Funeral Home, 1836 Highway 3, Harvey Station, NB on Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Acton Cemetery.
