Preceded in death by an infant daughter, LaVaughn; grandson, Lewis Howsare; and son-in-law, Clyde (Bill) Howsare. Survived by children, Shirley Howsare, and her children, William, and Terri, wife of Todd Hauze; LaVerne Ferguson, and husband, Larry G., and their children, Trena, Cindi (Gerry) Aurandt, Larry Paul and (Amanda), Robert and (Amy) and James and (Amanda); Larry Boyle, and wife, Donna, and their child, Joshua; and Cathy Decker, and husband, Daniel, and their children, Alexander, Lindsay, and Lance. Mattie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a 1943 graduate of Beaverdale High School. During her lifetime, she worked at Sylvania in Johnstown during World War II; at Howard Johnson, where she became great friends with Bobby Blackburn; and Holiday Inn. She was a prayer warrior as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to all she met. Mattie was a servant of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from a young age. She was a hard worker at all she encountered in her journey. She lived her life in service to the Lord. Mattie had many "adopted" children and grandchildren throughout the world. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home, Alum Bank, Pa., and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Pennwood Bible Church, Everett, Pastor Floyd Rinehart, officiating.
