He was born September 26, 1906 in Geneva, Indiana to Lemuel Leander Neal and Amanda Avalina Connor. He married Anna Judell Holt Sullivant, a widow with four daughters, in Decatur, Indiana September 2, 1939. Their first home was Geneva, Indiana. In 1941 he moved his family to Chicago, Illinois where he worked and attended North Western University and became an accountant. In 1948 the family moved to Laramie, Wyoming, where he worked as a clerk for Laramie Motors and the Union Pacific Railroad. From 1962 to 1990 Dan and Judy Neal made their home in Cheyenne, Wyoming. From 1990 to 1994 he lived in Sandy, Utah. His wife preceded him in death March 9, 1991.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He had a special love for children and spent many hours making doll cradles for his granddaughters and great-granddaughters. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and was a Scottish Rite Mason for over 50 years. He was also a Shriner. In 1973 he retired from the Union Pacific Railroad.
Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Ernie (Floretta) Purdy, Grand Island, Nebraska; Mrs. Keith (Joan) Glade, Sandy, Utah; Mrs. Vernon Lee (Nancy) Sheeley, Bowling Green, Kentucky; Mrs. Ronald (Mary) Jobe, Albuquerque, New Mexico; 16 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; four great-great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 12, 1994 at 11:00 a.m. in the Crescent View LDS Ward Chapel, 10945 South 1700 East, where friends may call from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
