My cousin Charles is from Pittsburgh. There was a great deal of tragedy in his family when he was younger, but he persevered to help his country.

He was in the Navy in both WWI and WWII. In WWI he was on a Torpedo Boat. In WWII he was an S1c, Seaman First Class, even though he was 45 years old. He was in just from October 13, 1942 until March 13, 1943. He had an honorable discharge. The military card says his middle name is Andrew, but I have his middle name as Angelus in his own handwriting on a draft card. The birthdays and death dates are the same.
His little brother Joseph was in the Navy in 1917 too, but died only a few years later of Rheumatic heart disease.

Charles Angelus came from Pittsburgh. His father was Michael J McNamara and his mother was Emily Stephan McNamara. He had at least 7 siblings. His wife was Lena. They had children Patricia and Francis.

His obituary from 29 January 1947 Brooklyn Daily Eagle page 11:
MCNAMARA -Charles A. on January 26. Beloved husband of Lena, dear father of Patricia and Francis, dear brother of Sister Mary Nathaniel of Sisters Of Charity, Alice McNamara, both of Pittsburgh PA, and Francis of Johnstown PA. Funeral from his residence 335 89th Street. Thursday Solemn Requiem Mass St Patrick's Church 10AM. Internment U.S. National cemetery Pine Lawn L.I.
