Roland F. Allard 1925 - 2014 South Hadley

Roland F. Allard, 88, of South Hadley, passed away on January 19, 2014 at the Renaissance Manor Nursing Home in Holyoke, MA.

Roland was born on October 18, 1925 to the late Nelson and Maria (Duhmel) Allard in Mohegan, RI. Roland has been a resident of Massachusetts for 54 years. He was employed by Combined Insurance as the district manager of sales. Roland was a WWII Veteran serving in Guam and the Marianas as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.

Roland had a strong Catholic faith and attended church at Saint Patrick's where he ushered as well as being the Treasurer of the St. Patrick's Men's Club. Roland was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree, 4044.

Roland leaves behind his wife, Carlene F. (Opacki) Allard and was predeceased by his first wife, Lucille, in 1986. Roland was also predeceased by his brothers, Orance Allard and Romey Allard, his sisters, Gertrude Allard and Beatrice Rivers, as well as his nephew, Stephan Rivers.

Roland is survived by his brother, Gerald Allard of Burlison, TN., as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass for Roland will be held Friday morning at 11AM at St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley with his burial to follow in the St. Rose Cemetery, also in South Hadley. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 9AM until 10:30AM in the Ryder Funeral Home in South Hadley.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Patrick's Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley, Ma., 01075 or to the South Hadley Council On Aging, 45 Dayton Street, South Hadley, Ma., 01075 RYDER FUNERAL HOME 533-1735
