Alice Ann Akers Gravley, age 76, of the Piney section of Wythe County, Va., passed away Monday, January 20, 2014. She was born October 19, 1937 in Wythe County, daughter of the late Edward "Ed" and Lila Porter Akers. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Rachel Manley, Barbara Lawson, Sandra Dove and Mildred Akers; two brothers, Everett Akers and Terry Akers. Alice married William "Clyde" Gravley and they had three children. She lived her life fully devoted to being a loving wife and mother as well as a caring friend. Alice was a life-long member of Liberty Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is survived by her husband, William "Clyde" Gravley; two sons, Victor Gravley and Mark Gravley all of Wytheville; daughter, Lisa Firebaugh of Salem, Va.; grandson, Cory Firebaugh of Rock Hill, S.C.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph Porter of Wytheville, Sam and Shirlene Akers of Alexandria, and Jules and Pam Akers of Wytheville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret and Dewey Mullens of Wytheville and Nellie Nucholls of High Point, N.C.; brother-in-law, Robert Dove; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Liberty Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Bob Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 p.m. until service time. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
