BIOGRAPHY
Clara M. Cates, 97, of Evansville passed away Tuesday October 16, 2012 at Angel River Health and Rehabilitation.
Clara was formerly a member of First Christian Church, The Red Hat Society and played with the Kitchen Band. She attended the Kentucky Derby every year, was a University of Kentucky Basketball Fan and enjoyed attending Castle Basketball games where her great grandson played.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Otho Cates; sons, Bud and Tom Cates; sisters, Erma Sursa and Alma Godeke; brothers, Gilbert and Wilbur Hein.
Clara is survived by her grandsons, Reg Cates (Julie) of Newburgh, IN and Sam Cates (Jonna) of Dallas, TX; great grandson, Carter Cates of Newburgh, IN; daughters-in-law, Linda Sue Cates of Evansville and Georgia Cates of Oklahoma City, OK; sister-in-law, Lavera Hein of Evansville and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday October 18, 2012 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, IN 47714 and from 12:00 – 1:00 pm Friday.
Funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm Friday October 19, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Bechtel officiating.
Entombment will be at Park Lawn Mausoleum.
