Mrs. Frances Louise Bagwell Thomas, 96, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at her home.

Mrs. Thomas was born September 10, 1917, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Raleigh M. Bagwell and Myrtle Wade Bagwell Shook. She was a graduate of Scotts High School. In 1938 she was married to A. Frank Thomas Sr, who preceded her in death on July 20, 2008.

From 1961 until 2000 Mr. and Mrs. Thomas made their home in Jacksonville, Florida. While living there Mrs. Thomas became quite proficient as an artist in oil painting. Her art was shown throughout the Jacksonville area which led to many patrons buying her art work.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of First Presbyterian Church where during her earlier years she was very involved with the church and the Women of the Church. She was also an excellent homemaker.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Allie Franklin Thomas, Jr, who died in 2010.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her daughter, Frances B. Thomas of the home and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, January 17, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Grant Sharp and Rev. Stephen Vance, Hospice Chaplin, officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorals may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County. 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC. 28625, or to the charity of the donors choice.
