Word was received here Wednesday morning of the tragic death of Mrs. Etta Florence Barnes in Los Angeles. The body will arrive at German Funeral Home in Steele Friday (today) morning at 5:06, escorted by her son, Carl Barnes.
Death came to Mrs. Barnes as the result of an explosion of the butane tank on the house trailer in which she lived. Details of the tragedy are not available.
She and her husband, the late Harrison Barnes, lived in Steele until 1953.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral service was held at the German Funeral Home Chapel Saturday at 2:00 p.m. for Mrs. Etta Florence Barnes. The Rev. Howard Conner, pastor of the Steele Methodist Church officiated. Interment was in Mount Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers were J.P. Averett, David Kelley, W.A. Oates, Leo Lipscomb, Charles Kelley, and Ralph Ketchum.
Mrs. Barnes, age 71 years, 8 months and 17 days, died at her home in Los Angeles on October 4 after a butane gas explosion at her trailer house.
Surviving are her son, Carl Barnes, three grandchildren and three sisters.
