David Vardon Behunin 1932 ~ 2003 David Vardon Behunin, 71, passed away of heart failure during brain surgery in LDS Hospital, Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born June 28, 1932 the eldest son of Edna Lucille Seamons and Carlos Vardon Behunin (Vard). Graduated from South High School, and attended the University of Utah. He studied voice four years at the McCune School of Music. He married Margaret Jean Watkins March 1, 1959. Later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; later divorced. Met Nancy Anne Howcroft in the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir, and married her April 10, 1967. They were sealed in the Jordan River LDS Temple on their 18th wedding anniversary, April 10, 1985. David was the bass soloist 50 years with the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir- particularly while the choir was under the direction of the founder, Armont Willardsen. His beautiful contra-bass voice was known and admired by the director of the Utah Symphony, Mau-rice Abravanel. David sang in the 101st Army Division chorus as a soloist. He was also a veteran of the Korean conflict. David loved trees and plants. Show him a tree anywhere in North America, and he could identify it. He was a lover of bonsai, and was a member of the Bonsai Society of Utah. Survived by Nancy, his wife of 36 years; children, Stephen, Douglas, from his first marriage, both of Bountiful, UT, Paul, Jonathan, Elizabeth (fiancée, Hector Ramos); one grandchild, Vannessa Garcia, all of Taylorsville, UT; and siblings, Donna (C.T. Woolsey, M.D.), Robert (Wanda), Barbara Joan (William Wimmer). Services will be 12 noon Wed. July 23, Bennion LDS 19th Ward Chapel, 6250 S. 2200 W, Taylorsville, UT. Friends may visit Tues. July 22, 6-8 p.m. Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S, Sandy, UT and one hour prior to the service. Entombment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
