Joseph R. Bonansinga, 52, of 837 S. English St. died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday at St. John's Hospital following an illness of 18 months.

He was born in Virden, the son of Rosario and Henrietta Fabbri Bonansinga.

He had lived in Springfield

Mr. Bonansinga was a captain in the Air Force during World War II.

He was a former commander of the V.F.W.

Mr. Bonansinga was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of the D.A.V. Hall Hagler Chapter No. 15.

Surviving are the widow, Josephine; three sons, Timothy with the Marines in San Diego, Calif., Paul of Ames, Iowa, and Sam of Springfield; two daughters, Mary Ann and Susan, both of Springfield; two brothers, Frank of McCleansboro, and Sam of Beardstown; one sister, Mrs. Ann Gaffigan of Annandale, Va.

The body is at Kirlin and Egan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Church. Rt. Rev. Msgr. A.B. Schwarz will officiate.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
