A local (Union County, Illinois) widow.
Born in January of 1826, according to the 1900 U.S. Census, in Illinois. May have also been born about 1829, according to the 1880 U.S. Census, in Illinois.
It is thought that her maiden surname was either Hammonds or Rosemary, though both possibilities are currently under serious scrutiny. It is also thought that her parents were born in Virginia.

She had a husband with the last name Lewis, who is thought to have had the given name Charles. This man is also thought to have been the biological father of Elizabeth's daughter Mrs. J. Johnson. Elizabeth later married Charles Barnes, in Union County, Illinois, on Aug. 3, 1866. It is unknown which of these two husbands was truly the biological father of Elizabeth's daughter Mrs. F. P. Martin.
It is thought that Elizabeth had 10 other children that preceded her two known daughters (J. Johnson's wife Mary E. and F. P. Martin's wife Louisa) in death, else she had only those two daughters.

She died in or after Jun. 1900, though probably before the recording of the 1910 U.S. Census, as I have yet to find record of Elizabeth anywhere in that census.

This is all of my information concerning my great-great-great-great-grandmother Mrs. Barnes. If you happen to have anything at all, no matter how seemingly insubstantial, please contact me at [[email protected]] :)
