Helen Patricia (Thomas) Adair, 79, our endeared mother, grandma, wife, sister and friend, entered quietly and peacefully into her eternal rest at home on January 10, 2014.
Born on May 17, 1934 in Barberton, Ohio, she was a faithful member of Lakeview United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and working with the children in the youth ministries. She served loyally and performed her work in this present age with due diligence and good stewardship. She was especially appreciated for her work on the "clean up" crews. As a responsible citizen, she loved God and her community. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She encouraged all the children to participate in music and sports and made the extra effort to encourage them and cheer them to victories. She gave meaningful and helpful advice when necessary, which was all the time. Many children in the neighborhood dearly loved her enthusiasm and stories. And we all learned how to be good swimmers thanks to her perseverance, attention to detail, and clear reprimand that we should always keep safety first. She was a devoted wife to my father, Bill. Together they started Barberton Mold and Machine Company. She was a dependable and honest employee, business partner, and faithful friend. They traveled together most of the time and truly enjoyed so many Barberton High School sporting events. She loved the band and preserved a keen appreciation for the commitment it takes to be a good athlete, successful student, but most of all a great friend. Her social life was healthy as she enjoyed sharing life experiences with many of her dear friends. Yes, many of her dear friends and a few close ones like the "Gabby Girls." She had a great sense of humor. She made us laugh all of the time and we will surely miss her brilliant mind.
She was preceded in death by her beautiful daughter, Karen Adair Luck, and she is survived by her husband, Harold "Bill" Adair; her children, Mark Adair and Colleen (Joel) Campbell; her grandchildren, Kristy (Paul) Zentiska, K.C. Luck, Meghan Adair, Katherine Adair, Thomas Adair, Benjamin Campbell, Cory Campbell, and Joshua Campbell; great-grandchildren, Kennidee, PJ, Kyle, Kaydince, and Nolan; her daughters and sons in the spirit; many delightful nieces and nephews; extended family and countless friends; and her little dog Daisy.
Dear Mom, You always made us believe that We were your beloved treasures. In truth - the real treasure was You. You loved us so much and without condition. May your ever present spirit and unfailing love abide with us and comfort our lives. Rest, for now, in the peace of Christ. And thanks for endearing God's knowledge to our hearts and minds. Stay with us forever and most of all thank you for showing us the right way to live. In abundance, with productive, meaningful actions, and supernatural help - your mortal witness was perfect. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lakeview United Methodist Church, 211 3rd St. NW, Barberton, OH 44203, with Pastor Tina Nees officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave., Barberton and one hour prior to the service at the church.
