☆~ VETERAN, CIVIL WAR (1861-1865) ~☆

George served in Company G, 45th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War and was discharged due to his injuries, which eventually killed him.

He was a school teacher, and he was married to Amelia C. Moore, together they had 2 children, Grace and George.

According to family history on Ancestry.com, his wife also died in 1863, leaving the children as orphans. His son, George, grew up and went West to Oregon where he married my future great grandmother, Nellie Olivia Burkhart. They had a son and both the child and George died in 1890 and are buried in Albany, Oregon.
