Emeline was my Great Great Grandfather David N. Goding's sister which makes her my Great Great Grandaunt. She was born in Jay, Maine and her Parents were Jonas & Patience (Tollman) Goding. She was married to Col. John Lane Hancock and they had nine children together. Also, she started up a Soldiers' Home in Cottage Grove, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois during the Civil War to help out those soldiers that were left disabled and destitute because of the war. She was also active in the Sanitary Commission.
