"Papa John" John E. Davis, Jr., 81, of Westwood, Kan., died October 30, 2010, at the Kansas City Hospice House. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Old Mission United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to the John E. Davis Memorial Fund for Scholarships at Shawnee Mission South High School, 5800 W. 107th St., Shawnee Mission, KS 66207, Attn. A.D. John Johnson. John was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Franklinton, La., to John and Joyce Burch Davis. He was married to Roberta Armstrong Davis for 59 years and she preceded him in death by 34 days. John was the head football coach at SM South from 1966 to 1985 and retired from teaching in 1994. He had two undefeated football teams that won State Championships in 1973 and 1975.....
John's life was devoted to his wife, his son, his grandchildren and his passion for coaching. He was loved and will be missed dearly by his family.
