Alexander Joseph McLean Brevard, a son of Alexander and Rebecca [née Davidson] Brevard, was born in the bounds of Lincoln County, North Carolina on September 22nd 1801. His father, a veteran of the Revolutionary War; served in the North Carolina Militia and fought at the Battle of White Plains, Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, Monmouth and Germantown.

On April 26th 1827, Alexander married Miss Keziah Goodwyn Hopkins, daughter of James and Keziah [née Goodwyn] Hopkins from Hopkins, South Carolina. There are no known children born to this union.

Alexander departed this life on June 1st 1842 in the 41st year of his age. He was laid to rest in the Hopkin's Family cemetery.


Note: His brother, Theodore W. Brevard, was married to his wife's sister, Caroline Ann Hopkins.
