On April 12, 1917, in Danbury, Burnett County, Wisconsin, Arthur was united in marriage to Hilma Losilia Miller. Hilma was born September 20, 1891, in Pierre, Hughes County, South Dakota, daughter of Alex B. Miller and Anna Elizabeth Olsson. She died April 6, 1989, aged 97 years, 6 months and 16 days. She was buried in the family plot in Danbury Cemetery. Their children, all born in Pierre, where Hilma was born and where they established a homestead after their marriage, were:

Evelyn Lydia born 21 May 1923
In 1926, after their children had reached adulthood, Arthur and Hilma moved back to Burnett County, Wisconsin, where they lived with her parents until they bought property located about five miles north of Danbury, Wisconsin, and about one mile from her parents. Their home was established in an abandoned house which they had moved onto the property. Their life was very hard until Arthur became a schoolbus driver. He later became a house painter and a farmer.
