John G. BARGE, one of Greene County’s respected men, passed away at his home in Highland Township, following an illness of several months.

He was the son of Sarah and John BARGE, and was born in Pennsylvania, April 30, 1842, and departed this life February 20, 1931, aged eighty-eight years, nine months and twenty days.

Mr. BARGE was married three times. He was first married to Delilah LIGHT. To this union was born four children, one dying in infancy. He afterward married Sarah ALLEN. His third wife was Malinda BULLOCK, and to this union was born two children, namely: John A. BARGE and George O. BARGE, deceased.

Those surviving him are his three sons and one daughter, namely: Edward BARGE, of Tulip; Billy BARGE, of Kansas; John A. BARGE, of near Worthington, and Sarah K. BABER, of Terre Haute. He leaves fifteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren to mourn his untimely departure.

Mr. BARGE bore his sickness with patience and often spoke of Jesus. On his deathbed he sang songs to his friends and visitors, and left a bright evidence that he was prepared to meet Jesus. We feel that he is safe in the arms of Jesus today.

Funeral services were held at the Mt. Calvary church Sunday, February 22, 1931, in charge of Rev. A. F. PIKE and wife, of Louisville, KY. Burial in the HUNTER Cemetery.

We want to thank the friends and neighbors for their kindness they have shown during the sickness and after the death of our father and grandfather, John G. BARGE; also Dr. TURNER, the singers and the comforting words of Brother and Sister PIKE, the undertaker, George E. KIDD.
