Pfc. Anthony J. Curcio was serving with the 27th Infantry Division, 105th Infantry Regiment when he was killed during fighting at the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan). He grew up in the area of 103rd Street, Queens, Corona, New York. His remains were returned to the United States where he was buried with full military honors on June 9th, 1948.
