Loyal Mueller, age 86, passed away at Heritage Manor on February 1, 2014. He was born on May 12, 1927 to August and Julia (Benishek) Mueller at Branch, WI. He attended Branch Grade School and graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. He served 3 months in Hawaii at the end of World War II and 2 years at Fort Knox, KY in 1950 where he married Marge Zipperer. After his service, they moved to Manitowoc, WI. Loyal started his career with the Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Department in 1955 as a driver's license examiner. In January of 1966, he was promoted to district manager and moved to Rice Lake (headquarters) where he held that position for 23 years.

Loyal and Marge had 4 children; Jean (Rick) Brown of Exeland, Gary Mueller of Milton, Gail (Craig) Brunette of Rice Lake, Jim (Renee) Mueller of Rice Lake. 6 Grandchildren; Andy Mueller, CJ Mueller, Tony Brunette, Jake Brunette, Jade Mueller and Taylor Mueller. 2 step-grandchildren; Ryan Brown and Nicole Brown; and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters; Elaine, Carol, June and Jewel; a brother-in-law, Don Zipperer and his parents.

He is survived by wife, Marge; 3 brothers-in-law and spouses; Jerry (Barb) Zipperer of Fond du Lac, Leo (Margi) Zipperer of Sturgeon Bay and Al (Gretchen) Zipperer of Pewaukee; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Loyal was an avid Packers fan who loved to hunt, fish, read, snorkel, dance and spend time at his lake cabin. He was a life member of the Elks Club.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday February 5, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, Fr. James Powers officiating, with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 PM Tuesday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the service at the Church. There will be a Wake Service at 7:30 PM and an Elk's Memorial Service at 7:45 PM Tuesday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals.
