First Lieutenant Lindquist was a member of Company H, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy at Hill 111, known as the Boulder City outpost and the last ground action by the Marines in the Korean War, on July 25, 1953. He was presumed dead on July 26, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. For his leadership and valor, First Lieutenant Lindquist was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

On 12-23-2009, while researching Carl, this comment was found about him:
"Carl was part of H/3/1's advanced party to Hill 111 to relieve H/3/7. On the night of 7/24/53 H/3/7 was overrun and the next morning the hill was retaken by H/3/1. Carl, who was last seen in the left side of the trenchline on hill 111, was not found."

Update 12-23-2009. Family DNA has been obtained.
