Donna Joy Reese

Donna Joy Reese, 80, went home to be with the Lord Sunday from the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, where she had been a resident for more than three years.
She was the daughter of the late Lewis B. and Camilla Dorothy (Replogle) Reese. She was born in Altoona but was a lifelong resident of Geeseytown.
Surviving are a brother, Lewis S. and wife, Mildred, of Duncansville; a sister-in-law, Ellen Reese of Geeseytown; and many nieces and nephews, of whom she was very fond.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Timothy, in 1992.
Donna graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1951 and began her working career as secretary to the late John Woodcock in his Hollidaysburg office. She then worked in the Hollidaysburg Area School District office for 32 years, retiring in 1989 as the superintendent's secretary for personnel. She had worked for seven school superintendents, beginning with J. Harry Henshaw and ending with Dr. Leo Gensante.
Donna had played the trumpet in the high school band and had a passion for cats. She was a member of the Evangelical Independent Methodist Church in Altoona.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 5, 2014, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, Pastor Bradley Reider officiating. Interment will be in Geeseytown Cemetery.
