Mrs. Isabela Steele died at her home Dec. 3. The funeral, Saturday, Dec. 5, was largely attended by friends and neighbors. The remains were laid to rest in Center Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Steele was a native of Fayette County and was one of a family of ten children, six daughters and four sons. Mrs. Warren Mason and Mrs. Lot Waggoner, of this county, are surviving sisters. Mr. Oliver, Wesley and James Handley, and Mrs. Logan, all of Fayette County, are also surviving brothers and sisters.

She was a widow for twenty-one years, left with a family of seven children which she lived to see grown to men and women. Six of them, two daughters and four sons, mourn the loss of a mother. She was much esteemed by all who had her acquaintance.

NOTE: She was the daughter of James and Charity Hayden Handley. She married Samuel Steele III, on Jan. 19, 1847, in Fayette County, IN. The seven children are: Mary Ann, Elizabeth, Sarah, Arch, Oliver, Thomas, and James.

Died of Bright's disease.
