JONES, JR. ALEXANDER SHEPHERD A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Covenant Methodist Church, 300 E. Martial Ave., Lafayette, for Alexander Shepherd Jones Jr., who died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at his Lafayette residence. The Rev. Willis Dear will conduct the service. He was born Feb. 17, 1928, in Franklin. He graduated from Hanson Memorial High School and attended Delaware Military Academy in Delaware and Southwestern Louisiana Institute. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 63 in Franklin and was a past member of B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge of Franklin. He became a HAM operator for the St. Mary Parish Civil Defense and later served on the St. Mary Parish School Board. Mr. Jones was past vestry member for St. Mary's Episcopal Church for almost four decades. He is survived by his wife, Jean Dumesnil Jones; three sons, James Peterman Jones of Baton Rouge and Alexander Shepherd Jones III and Robert Michael Jones, both of Lafayette; a granddaughter, Alexis Elizabeth Jones; a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Shepherd Jones Sr. and Frances Peterman Jones; and a sister, Helen Elizabeth Jones Talbot. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503, 337-232-1234. The family would like to thank Dr. Hector A. Robles, Home Health Nursing of Lafayette General Medical Center and the staff and nurses of Hospice of Acadiana. Memorial service at Church of the Covenant Methodist Church, 300 E.
