Cliff was born Aug. 4, 1919, in Appleton City, Mo., to Ashley and Mabel Witty Park. He married Margaret Mitchell on Oct. 11, 1944, in Blackpool, England. She preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 2009.
Surviving are a granddaughter, Sherry (Kerry Willey) Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Devyn (Alex) Everett and Robert (Brynn) Everett; sister, Juanita Smith and many other important family members and friends, including Larry (Shirley) Ferguson; Mrs. Patricia (the late Donald) Hargreaves and sons, Gary and Bruce; Mrs. Emily (the late Leslie) Iddon; Mrs. Margaret (the late Fred) Balshaw and son, Iain (Kate) Balshaw and their children, Hope, Felix and Coco and neighbors, Leah and Kent and their families.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ashley D. Park and stepson, Norman Mitchell.
Cliff served with the 8th U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. He was stationed in England, where he met his wife, Margaret, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. He retired in 1980 from Caterpillar Tractor Co., after 33 years of service as an inspector. Cliff was a die-hard Cardinals fan, had a passion for photography, worked hard and danced a lot. He served as superintendent of the Christian Church, in Missouri and looked forward to meeting his Lord.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory, in Washington. Visitation will be one half-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, in Peoria.
