-- Heart Attack Takes Mrs. Mae Beckman, 68, At Kamiah --
Kamiah -- Mrs. Henry (Mae E.) Beckman, 68, a life-long resident of north central Idaho, died Saturday at 11:30 p.m. of a heart attack at her home. Her husband is a rural mail carrier out of Kamiah.
She had been active in the Catholic Church for many years. She was a communicant of St. Catherine's Church at Kamiah, a member of its parish board of directors and a member of the church Altar Society. She belonged to the Court of St. Nonica, Catholic Daughters of America at Greencreek.
Mrs. Beckman had been a civic and community leader since coming to Kamiah in 1946. She previously had lived at Winona and Greencreek. She was born May 28, 1902, at Keuterville to Charles and Katherine Mader.
She attended school at Keuterville and was married to Beckman there April 3, 1923.
Survivors include her husband at the family home, a son, Don Beckman, Kamiah: six daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Audrey) Arnzen, Cottonwood; Mrs. Richard (Jean) Wessels, Nezperce: Mrs. Roy D. (Ethel) Hart, Maudlo, Mont.; Mrs. Tim (Sylvia) Hayhurst, American Falls; Mrs. Marion (Betty) Homan, Olympia, and Mrs. Leslie (Carol) Potter, Lewiston; one brother, Steve Mader, Keuterville: 25 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
Rosary will be recited Monday at 8 p.m. at Uhlorn Funeral Chapel at Cottonwood, Requiem mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at Greencreek with the Rev. Fr. Francis Hebert, pastor of St. Catherine's Church, officiating. Graveside rites will be at 3:30 p.m. at Kamiah City Cemetery with Uhlorn Funeral Home in charge.
